“Recollection Phoenix, I think I get it, it’s all about hope, where you go when you get it.  -Willie Nelson

Thanks to you and all of the wonderful friends who participated in May Day.    Thank you for believing in Encanto Park and helping promote its resurgence.  Our united efforts are working.  Together we grow has been our motto and our challenge and we’re beginning to see results; Encanto Park is growing and it’s greener than it has ever been before.

As those of you who read the Arizona Republic* over the weekend will know, we now have approvals for the Encanto Entrada and it will be built in time for the 75th Anniversary celebration in November.  The Entrada portal will symbolize hope and help display the symmetry of a vision for making a better place.

Your contribution is greatly appreciated!  If your gift is monetary, you will be receiving an official letter from the Phoenix Parks and Conservation Foundation, probably in January, and that will serve as your receipt for tax purposes.

Please, please volunteer to help.  We need everyone to do a part if we wish to fulfill the dream for this great park.  I believe these efforts will be amplified and will inspire many more acts for public good.

Thank you for your commitment to enhancing this community, this time, and this enchanting place.

Sincerely,

Kelly

May Day for Encanto Park & Looking Forward

We are delighted to report that the May Day for Encanto Park event was a splendid and successful evening of fun for good.   Stephanie Quincy & Martin Crist were generous and gracious hosts who served divine food, spectacular drinks and opened their stately home for a wonderfully eclectic group of civic minded folks from across the community.   The weather was gusty and mild as adults mingled, nibbled, imbibed, perused the auction and kids played games.  More than 30 volunteers, 40 raffle and auction donors (please see Thank you! Story) , and dozens of contributors helped show what’s possible when a community is united to make something better.

May Day for Encanto Park raised more than $4,500 for the Friends of Encanto Park fund with the non-profit Phoenix Parks and Conservation Foundation.   With this deposit the Friends of Encanto Park fund will have more than $40,000.  Friends of Encanto Park are moving forward with the city and the new Parks Department senior staff to advance plans for the Encanto Entrada, a long-term commitment to maintaining Encanto Park at a new standard of excellence and begin the vision stage of formulating the Master Plan for improving the Park.  We are also making plans for a 75th Anniversary Celebration to be held for the entire community at Encanto Park in late November.

Please join the next Encanto Palmcroft Historic Preservation Association meeting on Monday, May 18 at 7:00 pm if you’d like to learn more from Friends of Encanto Park and participate in the conversation about what’s next.   Thank you to everyone who made this possible.  Together we grow.

Thank you from Friends of Encanto Park!
