Concert in Encanto Park and re-building the Encanto bandshell

Hi Friends, I am new to Friends, but I have lived in Phoenix for 55 years and about 10 years in central Phoenix. I have been mulling around the idea that it would be nice to have concerts in the park. On July I contacted city parks and Encanto Park and started the idea of a concert series. The city finally arranged a concert on amphitheater island about a week ago and about 150 people from the surrounding neighborhoods attended. Pretty good start. What do any of you think of trying to make the concert series permanent and advocating for a band shell. The city/private groups are going to spend 100,000,000 dollars on Hance Park. I think now is good time to get a commitment from the city to build the band shell. It is going to take a big group effort from the surrounding neighborhoods.

Hi Michael,

I'm sorry I didn't see this sooner, thank you so much for making music happen at Encanto Park! Encanto Palmcroft Historic Preservation Association contributed to the first event, and we'd like to keep talking and collaborating to make good things grow.  Please consider visiting the EPHPA monthly meeting at the Valley Garden Center, or email kelly@envoy2.com.  Thank you!
