Construction Begins on the Encanto Entrada

Greetings Friends of Encanto Park –

 

I’m so pleased to report that the construction for the Encanto Entrada at 8^th Avenue and Encanto Boulevard has begun and the footings are going in today.  Beginning next weekend the historic Red Bridge will be rebuilt.  Years in the making, these are testaments to the generosity of our community and our commitment to making Encanto Park be the best public park in Phoenix.  

 

Please mark your calendar for the 75^th Anniversary Diamond Jubilee on Saturday, November 27.  There will be a dedication of the Entrada, the Red Bridge, and the unveiling of the plans for the Garden of Dreams beginning at 11:00 am.  Food, games, art, music and more will be happening all day, culminating in a fantastic fireworks show at 7:00pm.

 

Friends of Encanto Park will be hosting a party within the big celebration in the Clubhouse.   We will have additional information next week including more details about the Friends of Encanto Park Clubhouse event, sponsors, and Jubilee plans.

 

Please send any ideas or question in the interim, and consider joining the Friends of Encanto Park discussion at the Encanto Palmcroft Historic Preservation Association meeting at 7pm at Valley Garden Center on Monday.

Is the Entrada structure related to access into the golf course, at the entrada, for us joggers? G

Hello Greg -

Thanks for your note! The Entrada is a portal that is simply a park marker at the eastern edge of the park. It is set outside the fence. The access issue will be addressed when the new fence is installed. We have had assurances that pedestrian access will be maintained and view it as a community priority. The new wrought iron fence is not yet funded. Please look for more information about the master planning process and consider contacting Vice Mayor Nowakowski's office to support funding for new Encanto Golf Cource fencing.
